By decision of the Accreditation Commission, accreditation in the field of copyright and related rights was granted solely to the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPOA).
IPOA is an association founded by Georgian artists and focused on the development of the artistic field, with the ultimate goal of improving the protection of intellectual property rights in the country while fostering the growth of the artistic sector. The Association remains fully committed to this mission.
This is a fair outcome, as only the above-mentioned association met all the requirements set by both Sakpatenti and Georgian artists. IPOA operates in accordance with European standards, as evidenced by the existence of effective mechanisms for the collection, distribution, and payment of royalties, appropriate software systems, and coverage across the regions of Georgia.
In addition, as already noted, Stefan Schulz—who has many years of experience in the music industry, which is of great importance to the copyright sector—has been appointed Director of the Association. With his involvement, IPOA will implement modern technologies to maximize the accuracy, transparency, and protection of copyright in Georgia.
We are happy that the association that we ourselves created won the competition. Accordingly, the association we created is a guarantee that authors’ rights will never be violated in Georgia again, as has been the case for years.
This victory is a victory for Georgian artists.
